Our TOPOWA study has been funded!

We are thrilled to share that our large, 5-year project to assess the link between poverty and mental illness has been funded by the NIH. We will determine if vocational training, entrepreneurship skills and women empowerment initiatives may mitigate some of the social drivers that may exacerbate mental health. Our project will focus on young women, ages 18 to 24, who live in 3 slums across Kampala. This project represents a large collaborative team at KSU, GSU, Makerere University and our long-term partner the Uganda Youth Development Link. Read more in the KSU press-release or go to our new TOPOWA page.
